We had a chat with Andrea from wingfoilcampione.it who put a WIng Skate on (possibly the worlds 1st?) last June in Campione, Italy. He's looking to do the same this year too so keep an eye out on the events page of his website for more information.
Here were the details from last June:
Wing Parade 2022 1st edition June 11/12 2022
Program :
Saturday 11 Piazza Arrighini 10.00pm-11.30pm Wing Skate Slalom Non-competitive and non-competitive event Registration from 9.00pm at the WingFoilCampione gazebo.
Event description Slalom in Wing Skate with an oval course around the light poles placed in the square between the Cuba Café bar and the meadow adjacent to the stream. Start on right tack, push with one foot at the height of the bridge over the river, downwind, jibe around pole 1 (shop 23), straight on left tack, tack around pole 2, beam/downwind on right tack and repeat for a minimum of two, maximum of three laps to be decided on the basis of the conditions. The number of heats and the participants in them is to be defined on the basis of the number of participants and the conditions. The positions determine the starting line-up for Sunday's Wing Sup Star Contest. Skate type and wing size are free to choose (a surf skate is recommended). Putting the foot on the ground is allowed three times and after the third time, it determines 1/2 penalty point to be added to the score obtained at the end of the slalom. The score will be assigned as follows:
first place = 0.7 points
runner-up = 2 points
third place = 3 points
etc….
(Ex: if a competitor arrives second and puts his foot down 5 times, he will have two 1/2 penalty points to add to the 2 points of the position: therefore the score will be 3. Between a clean 3 and a 3 with penalty, the 3 clean wins).
Here some footage gained:
And some photos of the evenings event - looks like a lot of fun! Thanks again Andrea for sharing this with us!
