Matt is a keen Wing Skater whether its doing speed runs down at Camber Sands UK, or carving it up at his local skatepark.

Matt says..

"..I initially bought the Naish 4.6 Wing to practice on the water - as I have a surf SUP with a slingshot SUP Winder centre keel fin - which is a lot of fun in the right conditions and the plan was to progress onto a foil board set up, but I'm not there yet, and actually I really enjoy being connected to the water with the SUP with the wing.

I found myself spending more time on my mountain board and longboard skateboard with my wing as accessibility to the equipment and locations was cheaper and easier, and so Wing Skating became the focus.

For me it's the speed runs that I am into, and get giddy when I see the wind forecast at 20mph+ ..and when at low tide at my go to beach of Camber Sands in the UK, that's when the beach opens up to expose a good 1km+ run which is excellent when the wind direction is directly on or offshore. In strong winds and speeds getting close to 30mph+, the speed wobbles are one thing you have to contend with. Channel trucks on your board give more stability but are heavier than normal stake trucks.

At the moment I am using a Trampa carbon deck kiteboard with skate trucks with hard bushings tightened up as far as they will go with foot straps - that seems to be a winning combination and lends itself to doing jumps and gaining 'air'.

When I am closer to home I use Brooklands community skatepark with my Osprey twin tip longboard. It is stable and light enough to gain real speed with just the right length and width for me - also easy to control when carving, tacking and jibes."
